How do you dress yourself?

With my impending exam who has time to write? Who even has time to think? Oh wait, thinking might be useful for the exam. Anyway, this'll be short.

How do you dress yourself? I think getting dressed in the morning is such a fun activity. I don't plan out what to wear the night before, so choosing what to wear in the morning is guaranteed to be a spontaneous activity for me. Shall I say, if my day turns out to be boring and uneventful, getting dressed is the most exciting thing I do all day! Let's see...getting dressed first involves putting on underwear and a bra. I haven't devolved to wearing matching undergarments yet (who has the money for that?) so it's usually a haphazard experience. I might think for maybe 2 seconds whether or not I want to wear sporty underwear or something that doesn't show mad panty lines. Then the bra is chosen based on a mixture of colour, whether it is clean or not and comfort. Today for instance, I chose a comfy bra, one that probably is compromised in the shape and style department, but is nonetheless suitable for an entire day at the library. Interestingly enough, my whole outfit revolved around my bra today. So given the lack of architectural integrity, I decided to wear a looser-fitting short with a tank top underneath it. The top was a black T, off-the-shoulder and long with a green graphic print. That's a pretty difficult top to match, so I went with pants that were also black. I also needed some pants that were comfy AND had some give at the waistline...and voila, black yoga-style pants! Socks...meh didn't really matter much today. Then a practical sweater I threw on just to keep warm. I was wishing for warmer weather to be here, so I threw on my jean jacket.

And there you have it, some insight into my brain. It's such an organic process...granted, it would save me a lot of time in the morning if I already knew what I was going to wear the night before, but you know, I've been having many boring days lately.

Writer's block.

Where has the time gone? I can't devote any attention right now to writing here. I have an exam in less than 2 weeks. Usually the ideas are flowing, but I have some writer's block right now. I can maybe remember what happened yesterday - we lost our women's play-off vball game. Playoffs always happen right around our march break and nobody is really ready to come back and it shows on the court. We are also grossly out-of-shape after eating like gluttinous fiends to fill up on as many home-cooked/vacation calories as we can and it shows on the court. Anyway, it was probably a pre-mature exit for us, but we damn-well deserved it. Now I have to find some other way to amuse/exercise myself...any ideas would be helpful. Oh I went wall-climbing for the first time on the weekend - that's a pretty good work-out for the gluts and inner-thigh. I will definitely be trying that out again.

K that's all, gotta go to sleep now. Ciao.

I am 25 years young.

To start off, a mom quote. While commenting on my "tan" she goes, "you should wear pink, that way you won't look so yellow." God I love it.

I think an 18-year old hit on me the other day. Here's how it went down. I was getting some dinner at Tim Horton's on the way to watching a movie at a friend's house. I ordered a medium french vanilla and a chicken salad sandwich. He asked me if I wanted a donut to make it a combo and I didn't really feel like eating a donut so I joked and said "no, I'm watching my weight". It took him a couple of seconds to pick up on the fact that I was joking and then he tried to joke back by saying "we're out of chicken...just kidding." I didn't find that very funny but I decided to just laugh to make him feel better. Anyhow, there is usually another person who makes the food while someone at the cash register takes the order. As I was waiting for my food to be made, the cashier comes over to the sandwich area and takes over. I'm thinking, great, some more awkwardness. So as he's making my sandwich he says "where are you from?" I just tell him I'm from London so he can't ask me where in Toronto I live. Then he asks "how old are you?" I told him I'm 24, thinking that would deter him from thinking he could ask me out because I was sure that I was much older than him. Then he says "oh, just the right age for me." What a slick 18-year old. Then he has the nerve to ask me if I have a boyfriend. Ladies, for the record always say that you have a boyfriend, even if you don't. So when I told him that I do, he says "oh I'm too late." I was tempted to point at my two male friends who were waiting for me and to say that one was my bf and the other was my brother so he would get off my back hahaha. Even after that, he asked me to come back to that Timmy's to see him again! Ay, not happening! He even messed up my order and gave me tuna instead. My friends were convinced that I distracted him.

Now that I've joined the quarter century club, I will definitely be thankful that I have my youthful looks (well, maybe in another 5 years I'll be thankful). I went to this place called Mythic Grill on Albert St, a new Greek restaurant that opened up in London. We ordered several things from the menu and I was impressed by what I ate. The atmosphere is like finer dining but it is not very pretentious with fancy napkins and dishes and presentations. It's Greek food after all. The host/waiter was very generous and accomodating too. I had the Greek Village salad and a spread platter for appetizers and for the entree I had Paidakias (lamb chops). I would definitely go back there again. Their pita bread is addictive!

Old things become new again.

i am writing this entry from my new palm, woohoo. i still haven't figured everything out yet. Someone as un-techy as me should really just have a personal assistant instead. The good news is that I have almost 200 loving classmates who can help me out if I have a problem. You know what's really cool right now? I'm typing this from my bed with my wireless keyboard. tee hee.
I was going through some of my old stuff in my room. I found an old wallet with some *gasp* money still in it. There was an old hundred and twenty dollar bill. I think the bills have been in there for so long that they haave become obsolete. I also found some loonies and smaller change. I took some of the loonies to buy some coffee later next week. When I originally saved that money, I never would have predicted that I would be spending that money on coffee. Isn't that funny.
I decided not to go on a rersort trip that would cost way too much to get burned and bored. Mrrr, also turned down the opportunity to go to NYC but I would rather spend my bday with my family and good friends. A couple of short road trips should fulfill the travelling bug. I think I can actually make a trip to NYC in a long weekend and at a time of the year that is warmer.
I've recently recruited a few different friends to teach me how to swim again. Right now I'm just a back-stroker, but I plan to learn freestyle again. I also learned how to dunk my head under the water without getting excruciating pain from water going up my nose. That was honestly one of my major life goals!!! And now I've done it. I'm so happy.
My parents have started to create DVDs from old videos that were taken during my various childhood activities: ie. spring concerts in kindergarten, volleyball finals, badminton tournaments. I can't wait to see if they have found some of the more embarassing videos. It's really cool that we're able to save these old videos again to view later on. I think I will really appreciate them one day.

Second-hand smoke.

Holy crap it smells in here. I'm at home right now, it's almost 2AM and I can't sleep because my dad burned something on the stove and the entire house reeeeeeks. I was actually tempted to phone up a friend to sleep at their house. Since I'm still awake, I thought I'd write something.

Isn't it frustrating when someone has got you completely wrong? Sometimes it can be annoying, other times it can be a good challenge to be able to prove someone wrong. A classmate said to me the other day, and I'm paraphrasing, "wow, your nails are crazy, I didn't expect that from you." My nails were bright pink. Since when is the colour of your nail polish an open interpretation of your personality? I have always been a fan of bright colours, I'm not one to shy away from wearing them in my clothes as well. But does someone have to be loud to wear bright colours, or conversely, can only boring people wear neutrals? I found her comment to be quite puzzling. I wasn't sure whether it was attack on my taste or on my personality...but so not to blow things out of proportion, it was probably a completely useless comment that had no substance behind it at all. OK that's it, I'm not analyzing it any more.

That reminds me of the time when my old softball coach scoffed when he heard that I wanted to be a doctor. Sucker.

I dunno what I want to do for the March Break. I definitely want to make the most of it because holidays will be few and far between in the coming years. I'm thinking....a last minute trip to California? I don't want to do the resort thing, they are way too cliche/boring. I guess the main criteria would be warmth...been longing for it to be warm. The latest snow storm was pretty awesome though. Or maybe a road trip to Montreal again. We shall see.

It's so nice to be home sometimes, to get away from every day life. I actually don't feel guilty staying up late when I'm here. I haven't thought about class once yet. I have so much space!! I was driving around the GTA last weekend (Scarborough and Thornhill) and it occurred to me how much I missed the suburbs, space, convenience of stores everywhere, real life. Downtown is such a bubble. You feel like a different person there. At least I do.

In other downtown news, the multi-storey condos that were being planned for across the street have been nixed due to overwhelming protests against it!!!! Yaaaaay, my view lives on.
